The UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme is part of our dedication to harnessing our cutting-edge research to solve complex problems and improve the lives of people in local and global communities. Scientia candidates will have a strong commitment to making a difference in the world with demonstrated potential for contributing to the social engagement and/or global impact pillars of the UNSW 2025 Strategy.
Applicants are required to express their interest in a specific research area with an identified supervisory team. There are over 190 research projects to choose from.
Scientia Fellowships
The UNSW Scientia Fellowship Program is one of the cornerstones of UNSW’s 2025 Strategy. A primary goal of the Program is to enhance UNSW’s research performance by attracting and retaining exceptional early to mid-career researchers, with outstanding research track records. Scientia Fellows will be leaders in their School and Faculty and engage with the three pillars of social engagement, global impact and academic excellence.

The UNSW Scientia Fellowship Program provides the opportunity of a tenure track position with a career pathway commitment offering unprecedented flexibility.
UNSW Scientia Fellows have access to a range of development opportunities including career coaching tailored to their level of experience across research, teaching and leadership. Fellows will be mentored and will also develop the skills required to become mentors and research leaders themselves.
The Program also provides a significant financial development and collaboration package over a minimum of four years.
