
Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries
There are scholarships and bursaries available to international students who are currently enrolled at York University. You are encouraged to review the available funding for international students and apply for all that you qualify for. In order to be considered for many of York’s scholarships, bursaries and on-campus employment programs, you must electronically submit a Student Financial Profile (SFP). STUDENT FINANCIAL PROFILE (SFP) The Student Financial Profile is a multipurpose online application form that is used to apply for many of York’s scholarships and awards. You should complete the SFP at the start of each academic session (once for fall/winter and once for summer) to be considered for a variety of programs. Your will be asked to log in with your Passport York account to complete and submit your Student Financial Profile.
Undergraduate International Student Funding
Entrance Scholarships Entrance Scholarships are awarded once when students are first admitted to York. Some entrance scholarships are awarded automatically, and some must be applied for specifically. This page explains which entrance scholarships international students are eligible for under the heading International Applicants.York University Continuing Student Scholarship The Continuing Student Scholarship is distributed annually in August to students who have achieved outstanding academic results in the previous Fall/Winter and Summer sessions. The value of the awards varies proportionately with the level of academic achievement and course load. No application is required for this scholarship.International Student Bursary The International Student Bursary is available for international students who are experiencing unexpected or emergency financial need due to unforeseen circumstances. It is intended to cover small costs directly related to the student’s academic success. Note: The bursary is not sufficient to cover tuition fee payments. Eligible students must:
- be in good academic standing
- experience financial difficulty through unforeseen circumstances
- be beyond their first year of study
- have international student status (studying at York on a valid Study Permit and paying international fees)
- be registered and pursuing an undergraduate degree
- be enrolled in courses at the time of application

YORK ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
Entrance scholarships, awards and bursaries available to Canadian high-school applicants are listed in the following table. For awards requiring an application, submit the application via MyFile as noted below. You do not need an offer of admission to apply for scholarships, awards and bursaries. Complete the application early so that you are considered for the most awards possible — some scholarships close to applications as early as February 15. The application closes April 1. If you qualify for one of these awards listed, you will receive an e-mail or letter letting you know the name of the scholarship or award you have received and the value. Full award and eligibility details are available by clicking the award name. Note: Scholarship values are subject to change.
Note: Applicants to the York-Seneca-Georgian Collaborative Nursing program are not eligible for York University Entrance Scholarships & Awards.

Schulich Leader Scholarships York University is proud to be a participant in the Schulich Leader Scholarship program. One scholarship valued at $100,000 ($25,000 x 4 years) will be awarded to a Schulich Leader Nominee admitted to an Engineering program. An additional scholarship valued at $80,000 ($20,000 x 4 years) will be awarded to a Schulich Leader Nominee admitted to Science, Technology, or Mathematics. Candidates must be nominated by their high school to be eligible for consideration. Selection is based on the following criteria: outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; academic excellence; financial need. Tom Janes Memorial Award ($5,000 x 4 years) Awarded to full time undergraduate students entering their first year of study at York University. To be considered applicants must: 1) Have a family member (defined as an immediate relative, spouse or step relative) that is a former employee of Janes Foods Ltd. ON-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT
There are a number of on-campus employment opportunities available to help with your budget.
- Be a department or faculty office assistant, library or research assistant, lab or gallery monitor or similar
- Work from 10-20 hours per week, conveniently between classes
- Salaries range from the provincial minimum wage to more than $20 per hour depending on the nature of the job
Apply for these positions in late August/early September.
