Canada set to invite over 100,000 candidates to apply for PR

Canada is on track to inviting more than 100,000 immigration applicants to apply for permanent migration to the country in 2020.

A total of 5,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to Express Entry candidates in the immigration draw held on November 25, making this round the biggest ever for the most ITAs given out in a single draw.

After this round of the draw, a total of 97,350 ITAs have been granted to Express Entry applicants so far this year, which is the highest number of ITAs issued to permanent Canadian immigration candidates in a single year, making 2020 a record-breaking year already.

CRS threshold score for Canadian immigration drops to 469 points

Canada’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) threshold score dropped to 469 points for the first time in an all-program draw for Canadian immigration this year in the Express Entry invitation draw last month.

In the draw held on November 25, applicants for business and skilled migration to Canada needed a score of 469 points on the country’s CRS on their application in order to obtain an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent Canadian immigration from the country’s government.

A total of 5,000 invitations were issued to Express Entry applicants, which makes this round of the draw the biggest ever in terms of the number of ITAs granted to candidates in a single round.

Australian Immigration

Why the time is ripe to apply for business migration to Australia

Few countries top Australia as a destination for business migration. The Australian economy has a reassuring state of stability, education and healthcare benefits are among the best in the world, and the lifestyle is precisely what everyone envisions when thinking of a better life. With so many things going for it, it should be more of a spoiler than a surprise that Australia is the destination to go for if you are looking for business migration opportunities to move to pastures new.

Australia reforms Business Innovation and Investment Program for business migration

The Australian government has announced it is reforming the country’s business and investor visas in order to maximise economic benefits from business migration to Australia.

In the Migration Program for 2020-21, the number of business migration places available under the BIIP has been almost doubled from last year, with 13,500 places up for grabs in 2020-21 compared to 6,862 allocations in 2019-20.

Moreover, the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) will be simplified to having four streams instead of nine under the reform.

Speaking on the reform, acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said the changes are designed to boost investment and create new jobs in Australia’s key sectors.

New Zealand Immigration

Experts urge border exemptions for skilled migrants to New Zealand

New Zealand needs to review its immigration settings and allow border exemptions for skilled migrants to NZ in key tech sectors, says NZTech chief executive Graeme Muller.

Since the pandemic started, New Zealand was forced to close its borders and impose travel restrictions for skilled and business immigrants moving to and from New Zealand, which has “starved the country’s economy of critical skills and investments”, according to Mr Muller.

A reduced influx of skilled migrants to NZ, combined with a lack of suitably qualified local workers, has created a significant skills shortage which has left numerous Kiwi tech firms unable to find skilled employees in the country – especially data analysts, software programmers and cybersecurity experts.
