The financial aid office of the institution you intend to attend can provide you with information on scholarships, as can searching online or in a public library. But take care. Be sure the scholarship offers and information you receive are accurate, and keep in mind that you don’t need to pay a fee to locate scholarships or other forms of financial aid. When do I submit a scholarship application?

Depending on when each scholarship’s deadline is. If you’re still in high school, the summer between your junior and senior years is when you should be looking into and applying for scholarships because some deadlines are as early as a year before college begins. Don’t give up, though, if you missed that opportunity. Check the details of the scholarships to see which ones you can still apply for right now.

How can I make a scholarship application?

There are certain guidelines for each scholarship. The webpage for the scholarship should provide information on who is eligible and how to apply. Please carefully read the application, fill it out completely, and submit it before the deadline.

How will I receive my scholarship funds?

According to the scholarship, yes. The money may be sent straight to your college, where any tuition, fees, or other amounts you owe will be paid, and any remaining monies will then be provided to you. Alternatively, a check could be delivered to you directly. When the scholarship provider notifies you that you have been awarded the scholarship, it should explain what to expect. If not, be sure to inquire.

How will a scholarship effect the rest of my financial aid?

A scholarship will have an impact on your other student aid because the total of all your aid cannot exceed the cost of attending your college or career school. In order for the financial aid office to deduct the amount of your scholarship from your cost of attendance (and from any other aid you may have been provided, such as loans), you must inform your school if you have received a scholarship.
